From an engineering point of view the site is a full industrial operation similar to a petro-chemical industry with an 11 KV power distribution site, motor drives up to 2 MW. To give a further idea of the scale, the site comprises approx 2,000 motors, 3,600 field instrument, 750 pumps with conveyors moving up to 1000 Te of product per hour and gearboxes generating 300 KW power at speeds as low as 2 RPM
The site is split into a number operating areas, including
• Beet intake, slicing up to thick juice production, including animal
feed operations (Mill)
• Sugar crystal production from thick juice (Refinery)
• Boiler and Gas Turbine operations
• Final sugar product packaging and dispatch
• Resin separation process and bio ethanol production
