THE COMPANY
Established in 1989, my client is an experienced, independent IT consulting firm. Their main focus is on architecting and managing the implementation of infrastructure services. Due to increased growth in 2008 they are looking to recruit the very best Project Managers and Programme Managers talent in the UK.

THE ROLE
Project Management with general focus on architecting and managing the implementation of infrastructure services. Technical skills will range from network and server hardware, through to infrastructure applications such as Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) and Data Warehousing, to service optimisation using ITIL best practice.

THE CANDIDATE
Successful Project Managers and Programme Managers will need to possess ALL of the following ;
You’ll be an experienced project Manager and have a track record in the successful management of projects based on infrastructure services
A minimum of 5 years Project Manager or Programme experience gained in a leading consulting organisation or systems integrator.
An honours degree– minimum 2:2
Experience of working within medium to large projects (budget above £5m, more than 20 man years’ work).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A good Project Manager or Programme Manager should have the ability to explain technical concepts in business terms for senior managers and clients. They should be persuasive, articulate and able to think on their feet under pressure.
IMPORTANT NOTE - Experience of Business Application Delivery is an advantage, but is not by itself sufficient for a career with my client – I am looking for a Project Manager’s or Programme Managers who have a strong background in delivery and consultancy around infrastructure and associated applications
SALARY
A project Manager / Programme Manager with the above skills can expect a Salary up to £100,000 per annum
Bonus Scheme, Private Health Care (Incl Family), Non Contributing Pension (5%), Share Ownership Scheme.

COMPANY - Leading financial software company developing and selling products into the high level Banking industry.
ROLE - * Responsible for implementing the application in our customer's environment, typically 6 month, $1m value projects.
* Ensures project implementation is on time, within budget and to customer's satisfaction, working closely with customer's project team.
* Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel and technical leads to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
* Coordinates activities between Information Technology, Technical Architecture, Customer Services, Product Development groups and project team.
* Responsible for managing a project team, assigning responsibilities, identifying needed resources, managing performance and developing and executing a project plan.
* Serves as key liaison between the project and principal users, including customer Executive management, and other affected or interested individuals and organizations to provide updates and obtain feedback, ensuring proper and timely communication.
* Responsible for identifying, generating and executing on Project Change Requests, creating extra functionality and revenue.
* Actively supports sales process in providing collateral and expertise during sales engagements.
* Supports and drives sales and actively seeks to improve offerings and sales process.

ROLE - The management of IT projects to meet identified business needs, acquiring and utilising the necessary resources and skills, within agreed parameters of cost, timescales, and quality.
Key accountabilities
Ensures that comprehensive project, quality, and risk plans for projects are prepared and maintained.
Ensures that realistic estimates of costs, timescales and resource requirements are agreed and carries out the monitoring of projects against these criteria, taking corrective action as necessary.
Ensures that any strategic problems are identified at the earliest opportunity and that solutions are identified and implemented.
Manages one or more large project teams, developing and maintaining manpower plans for managers and staff involved and monitoring the deployment of individuals to ensure that they are contributing effectively whilst developing skills and experience.
Liaises with management at all levels within the business, managing their expectations for projects.
Ensures that own projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are reviewed and improved. Produces appropriate documentation to support these processes.
Responsibilities
Takes responsibility for the delivery of high-profile projects and programmes of work, establishing and maintaining the correct structures to control and monitor the deliverables to the business
To ensure that adequate assurance procedures are applied to the work undertaken, so that the high standards of safety appropriate to a nuclear licensed site are achieved during the project period, and that the required standards of reliability and safety performance of the constituent systems are achieved in the deliverables. Take an active role in the implementation of Company/Local Procedures and Systems of Work to safeguard People, Quality, Security and the Environment including compliance with the requirements of current legislation.
Qualifications
ONC/HNC in an IS/IT or related discipline, Practitioner Certificate in PRINCE2 or Equivalent and considerable project management experience.
Knowledge
A sound knowledge of Project Management Principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation through to implementation using the PRINCE2 methodology.
Methods and techniques for negotiating contracts for the supply of ICT products and services.
Methods and techniques associated with planning and monitoring progress of projects.
Examples: product/work breakdown structures, critical path analysis, earned value, resource analysis, conflict resolution.
Methods and techniques for managing contracts to ensure that contractors adhere to agreed contract requirements.
The identification, assessment and management of project risks, which could result in time or cost over-runs, or failure to deliver products which are fit for purpose.
Experience
Proficient in Corporate, Industry and Professional Standards associated with project management.
Examples: safety standards, departmental programming standards, organisational network performance standards, help desk procedures, corporate quality and change management processes, IT Infrastructure Library, TickIT.
The planning and management of safety activities across the life-cycle phases for safety-related system developments. Examples: safety planning, safety strategy, hazard log, collating safety evidence.
Skills
Computing skills including MS Office, Projects and PRINCE2. Project management skills including cost control. Experience in IT/IS Project management.
Methods and techniques for structured reviews, including reviews of technical diagrams, test plans, business cases and any other key deliverables.
Examples: peer review, formal technical review, Fagan inspection. |
