The role of Technician will be to :

+To undertake Electro-Mechanical tasks as directed, including assembly, test and inspection, fault diagnosis and repair
+To carry out light maintenance tasks as directed by the Divisional or Office Managers
+To travel and work in the UK and overseas from time to time, for periods of up to 5 consecutive days, but occasionally up to 12 consecutive days

The Technician Key Areas of Responsibilities
+Assembly, repair and test of a variety of precision mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components
+Ensure that the general housekeeping of the Lab/Workshop is maintained
+Ensure that all measuring and monitoring equipment is calibrated as appropriate
+Routine IT tasks including weekly back-up of the server
+Goods-inwards inspection where appropriate
+To carry out tasks as defined by the appropriate Project Manager

The Technician will have the following Knowledge, Skills, Experience

Knowledge
- Knowledge of BS EN ISO 9000 standards and procedures. Defence Industry Mechanical, electrical/electronic and electro-mechanical systems experience is desirable

Skills
- Computer literate in MS Windows applications in particular MS Office. Some IT skills
- Ability to read engineering drawings, test schedules and assembly instructions
- Ability to drive cars/vans in Europe (clean licence preferred)

Experience
- Electronic printed circuit assembly including soldering, cable assembly
- Mechanical fitting and assembly of mechanical and electro-mechanical components and systems. Light fabrication machining experience would be useful
- The operation of measuring/monitoring equipment
- Experience of safety-related procedures is desirable
