After many years of recruiting for senior level executives, Corrigan Bentley took the step in early 2007 to establish a separate entity within the group - Corrigan Bentley Executive Search, aimed solely at recruiting senior level personnel, upto CEO/COO level, within the building services markets.
To this day, we remain the only business in the UK dedicated to placing senior level candidates specifically within building services.
Recruiting at senior level into an organisation is of critical importance. A successful recruit can positively reshape the successes or direction of a company and its people but transversely, if the candidate is unsuccessful, the effects can be devastating.
Group Managing Director Ben Freeman started in recruitment 14 years ago specialising in M&E sales recruitment. Ben launched Corrigan Bentley in the spring of 2000, growing the business year on year and developing the company and its team of well trained, hard working consultants, into an undisputed market leader in its chosen, vertical markets. Whilst Ben’s personal area of expertise and contacts still remain heavily within the Building Services sectors, he now spends the majority of his time focused within the senior level search arena.
Business leadership experience and industry knowledge are just some of the crucial elements required when embarking on a senior level search. I and my executive search resourcers, have interviewed in excess of 500 senior level candidates in the last few years and it would seem apparent that, following on from the economic downturn, many companies need to refresh their senior management personnel. This can be for many reasons, be it a manager pursuing other opportunities and ’moving on to pastures new’ or quite simply when an individual has exhausted their energy, ideas and interest.
There has certainly been a dramtatic increase in demand for external, senior individuals, pehaps due to a lack of options internally or simply to ‘freshen the gene pool.’ It is admirable to encourage and develop key individuals within a business to progress and move forward in their careers but unfortunately these people can sometimes struggle when it comes to dealing in turbulent economic climates and it’s at this point that the services, experience, management skill and business acuity can be essential for the health and prosperity of the business.
