We live in times of ‘CV Spamming,’ this is an exercise utilised by many of the less scrupulous agencies in the industry whereby your CV will be sent to many companies in the hope that interest will be shown, at this point you will be contacted and told about the role. There are obvious reasons why this practise should not be adopted:

• You never know who is reading the information, it could be your managers’ best friend or in niche markets, word can get out, leaving you in a potentially awkward situation.

• Sometimes there can be upwards of 250 companies in your specialist market. If you’re CV is sent out to every one of these companies, it may appear that you are desperate to leave, thus reducing your ability to negotiate a good deal.

• You will find yourself going to far more interviews than is sensible.
